Artists in the House

Home to three generations of Macleay gentlemen scientists, their wives and families, Elizabeth Bay House provided the venue for a link between the heritage and visual arts worlds.

In this exhibition, some of Sydney’s foremost contemporary installation artists engaged with the house and its collections to create a series of site specific installations which re-examined the heritage, social and scientific values of Elizabeth Bay House for a contemporary society.

This project was assisted by the Commonwealth Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.

Featured artists: Jacqueline Clayton, Anne Graham, Ken Unsworth, Bonita Ely, Chris Dunn, Julie Rrap, Tom Arthur, Debra Phillips, Alesks Danko, Nigel Heyler, Anne Zahalka.
