Nick Hollo: harbour & ocean baths

This exhibition of oil pastels traced Nick Hollo’s visits to many of the pools and baths located along Sydney’s bays and beaches. Nick drew these pictures on site, capturing the light and mood of the time.

The bath at Fairlight appears to float between water and sky, while the Dawn Fraser Pool at Balmain is just around the corner from oil tankers and cranes. The plaza at Wylies Baths, Coogee, sits on a deck built on tall, spindly hardwood legs over the jagged rocks below.

Coastal Sydney is like a collection of villages and the baths are the village squares – meeting places where we play or relax together. Hopefully this exhibition will entice you to visit these diverse and magical places.
