Rachel Newling: land, sea, air

Sydney artist Rachel Newling is known for her vibrant and detailed linocuts of Australian birds, wildlife and flora, each of which is hand printed and individually coloured.

In the last few years Rachel has been experimenting with new techniques such as engraving a coated board using both paints and inks. She has also switched to digital printing. This has enabled her to explore interesting new directions that are not necessarily suited to the linocut medium.

The exhibition will include drawings, engravings and linocuts of birds, the sea, landscapes and unique buildings. The works were inspired in part by Rachel’s trips to the Northern Territory and far north Queensland.
