Houses & Museums
Your gift will help us conserve unique houses and museums which reflect the heritage of Australia. Each place is unique and tells its’ own story. From the history of convict transportation to the stories of first families like the Wentworths, Macarthurs and Macleays, we can trace our history through the stories and collections in each house and museum. UNESCO site, Hyde Park Barracks Museum and The Mint, Sydney’s oldest public building, reflect the astonishing development of Sydney and how the city was established.
Donate now to conserve these beautiful houses and museums.
Your generous support enables us to provide history and heritage education programs which link with the NSW curriculum, provide assistance for regional and rural primary schools as well as delivering exciting and innovative experiences to immerse children in the history of Australia. Our partnership with aboriginal cultural organisation, Muru Mittigar at Rouse Hill House & Farm delivers Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander histories and cultures in powerful and memorable ways. The Justice & Police Museum re-creates the 1890s providing authentic and fun experiences learning about law and society. Many other education programs are available and new programs are regularly developed which help our young people to understand the events which formed Australia as a nation.
Donate now to support education of Australians, young and old.
Your contribution to our ongoing research projects enables Sydney Living Museums to invest in research in the history and heritage of Australia. Research helps us to adapt our museums and houses with a fusion of contemporary use and historical interpretation. Future generations will learn about the past through the research we do and the knowledge we glean. Funds are used to digitise images which are made available to the public through our picture catalogue.
Donate now to continue the research into heritage and history.
