Penguin Plays Rough at the City of Shadows

 

The Justice and Police Museum played host to a series of events this summer based upon one lone image and its reinterpretation into speeches, songs, and films.

 

Starting with a single photograph titled “Details Unknown” Penguin Plays Rough have brought together a collection of writers, and illustrators who have woven narratives surrounding the mystery woman from the Police Forensic Archive.

This month saw almost 200 people take part in the grand finale event at the Justice & Police Museum. What began as a series of live readings was transformed by performance collective Unhappen to create an immersive experience as people and performers moved through the corridors, courts and cells of the Justice and Police Museum, experiencing the twists and turns of this unsolved case.
