SLM Launches its new website

After many months of work we have finally launched our new website, and despite the odd minor glitch still to be resolved we are very pleased with the result.

As you'll see it’s all about content. The major focus for the new site is unearthing, exploring, showcasing and sharing our content. As a diverse institution devoted to conserving and activating old places we revel in stories big and small, generating an enormous amount of content, from research into our properties, collections and gardens through to our exhibition and event programming. Until now we've not had an appropriate platform for sharing this content online so much of this important work has been invisible to our audiences. Likewise the skills of our expert staff who undertake the critical and diverse work we do.

As of today however, we hope our new site will resolve this impasse and you'll not only be intrigued by our initial offering but sense how much more we've got in store.

In our Stories and histories section you'll find a mixture of old and new stories. These range from broad histories of our properties such as Anna Cossu's background on Susannah Place through to this fascinating video in which curator Gary Crockett explains why drab paint is used at Hyde Park Barracks. You'll also find a growing selection of stories previously published in our books and Insites magazine.

In Threads of connection you'll see the result of an enormous amount of work undertaken by our curators and Collections and access staff. These beautifully photographed stories explore some of the people behind the objects we hold in our collection.

Our news feeds are also present across this site, and these will keep you informed about on going activities of the Sydney Living Museums.

We've also made significant improvements to our venues, education and events and exhibitions sections.

So please look around and explore what we have on offer.
