Beulah road work commences

The civil works component of the work to reinstate the road and bridge into Beulah began last week.

The contractor has begun his initial scrape of the existing surface to get down to compact base material and establish the levels for the road.

This first stage of the work is being supervised by an archaeologist who is monitoring for any evidence of the original road surface that might get exposed during the scrape.

Any archaeological evidence that is found will be covered with a permeable protective fabric and then encased below the new crushed sandstone surface.
