Darkness and Light at Elizabeth Bay House
Led by guides holding candles aloft, guests on this sold-out tour were led all over the house from top to bottom, including some fascinating spaces not on general display. They heard stories of the many residents both grand and humble, and the ways that light and the means to produce it impacted on their daily lives.
At the conclusion of the tour, guests adjourned to the dining room, flickering with firelight and glittering with candles, reflected back down the table by the convex mirror at the end of the room, for a glass of wine, a selection of cheeses, and savoury pastries by artisanal baker Miss Lily’s Kitchen.
Nightlight tours are a hugely popular recurrent offering for Sydney Living Museums, not only at Elizabeth Bay House, but across many of our other properties, including Vaucluse House and Elizabeth Farm.
