Hugely popular Autumn Harvest Festival returns

Autumn Harvest Festival, on Sunday 24 March, is where you can meet some of Greater Sydney’s finest artisan producers and makers and be inspired by the food history of Rouse Hill House & Farm as you taste, browse and shop from a handpicked selection of products.

This one-day event includes a series of demonstrations and talks by cheesemaker Kristen Allan, Sean Prendergast from Bilpin Cider, beekeepers Ana and Sven Martin from Amber Drop Honey and Crop Swap Sydney’s founder, Laurie Green who will be sharing her tips on creating a zero waste pantry. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own home-grown goodies to exchange at the Crop Swap.

With over 20 stalls from jams and relishes to shrubs and ciders, fresh produce, cured meats, artisan breads and delicious cheeses, visitors can meet the producers and hear about their quest to produce the very best handcrafted, locally grown foods through embracing sustainable practices and reviving traditional preparation and preserving methods.

Stallholders include Willowbrae Chevre Cheese, Bilpin Cider, Brasserie Bread, Broomfield Pie Co, Currong Comestibles, Wormticklers Nursery, Fungi Co, Kristen Allen Cheese, Steph’s Gourmet, The Gelato Man, Raw & Wild Garlic, Belicious, Cacaoette. Hand’n’Hoe Macadamias and a range of delicious “local treats” provided by Good Fella Coffee (Bella Vista) and The Tuckshop (Glenhaven).

Back by popular demand is chicken expert, Dave Ingham, of Rentachook and author of Raising Backyard Chickens - teaching everything you need to know about keeping chickens at home.

Kids entertainment includes butter making classes in the 1888 schoolhouse, gardening workshops at the potting shed, a range of craft activities inspired by items from Sydney Living Museums collection as well as the opportunity to help our farmer feed the cows at the Windsor Rd paddock.

Visitors can explore the property and hear the stories that reveal the life of Rouse Hill House & Farm over 160 years - take a peek inside the historic convict-built house and discover the property’s outbuildings on a free family-friendly tour.
