Jeanice Brooks

Jeanice Brooks is a cultural historian of music, whose research interests include domestic music in 18th-century Britain and the use of music in heritage interpretation. She has published on Jane Austen’s ‘missing songs’ and on Austen’s music books as material culture. Her current project, At Home with Music: Sounding the Domestic in Georgian Britain, explores how music informs ideals and practices of domesticity in the years around 1800. She is the leader of the AHRC-funded Sound Heritage network devoted to research and interpretation of music in historic houses.
