Teaching Primary History Through Role-Play

About the course
Each course provides five hours of NESA QTC Registered PD.
This professional development day for primary teachers explores practical ways to teach skills and concepts through role-play.
Participants will be taken through current research into the value of using role-play to teach History. They will model and actively participate in successful role-play strategies for the classroom such as ‘teacher in role’, ‘hot seat’, ‘freeze frames’ and ‘role on the wall’.
Time will be dedicated to reflection and open discussion on ways to integrate role-play strategies into their lessons.
Participants will receive a range of handouts, reading material and references to support them in implementing role-play strategies in the classroom.

Completing each course in the Sydney Living Museums Teaching History in the primary classroom program will contribute 5 hours of QTC Registered PD, addressing 2.1.2, 3.4.2 and 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
