Collection Close-ups: Susannah Place Museum

This Event Is

Sold out
Members are invited on a special tour of Susannah Place Museum with Sydney Living Museums’ Curator Anna Cossu.

Included in this evening tour is the chance to view a unique family album and collection of World War I postcards, not normally on public display, that were donated to the museum by the Andersen family, four generations of whom lived in Susannah Place.

Susannah Place presents the history of four terraces and the families that occupied them from 1844 to 1990. The layers of history are clearly visible throughout the houses, and SLM members will have the opportunity to hear and see the particular conditions and lifestyles of those families who lived in what was for many years one of the busiest working-class areas in Sydney, The Rocks.

The tour will also include an opportunity to view Sydney Harbour from the rooftop of the Sydney Harbour YHA and will finish in the Australian Hotel’s historic Ladies Parlour for a beverage with the curator.

Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. This tour includes stairs and non-level access.

Please note this is a member-only event and your will need to show your membership card on entry.

Bookings essential.
