Come join us at Elizabeth Bay House for an evening of late 18th and 19th century Scottish music with world-leading early music performers coming together from Glasgow, Melbourne and Sydney.

The concert will explore a selection of Scottish music from the collections of Sydney Living Museums and other Australian libraries and includes items recently discovered during research for the forthcoming Songs of Home exhibition, launching in August at the Museum of Sydney. This concert is part of a collaborative project, ‘Performing a distant heritage: Scottish music in early Australian collections, its materials and its practices’ and brings together musicians, scholars, students, amateurs and heritage professionals to explore the wealth of music and dance that was brought to Australia from Scotland by families in the 19th century.

The sharing of musical and historical expertise between the Universities of Sydney and Glasgow, Sydney Living Museums and Melbourne’s Evergreen Ensemble will bring this material to life for new audiences in a captivating historic house setting.

The musicians include members of the Evergreen Ensemble (Australia), Concerto Caledonia (Scotland) and Neal Peres Da Costa and Daniel Yeadon (Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney).

Refreshments will be served on the night.
