Egg-cellent Easter Trail: Vaucluse House

Sydney Living Museums has suspended all public programming until further notice.

This includes onsite learning programs, performances, talks, walking tours and all school holiday activities. We are taking these steps as a public health precaution in support of measures to contain COVID-19. However, you can still discover our places, stories and collections online and across our social channels. Stay connected to be inspired and entertained.

Explore Vaucluse House on an Easter-inspired kids trail. Try your hand at an ‘egg-cellent’ range of activities inspired by traditional Easter games, including egg rolling, egg-and-spoon racing, a chicken hunt (of the non-chocolate variety) and a hot-cross bun ingredient challenge.

Get crafty at our Easter-inspired tinkering station and venture through the house. Meet our feathered friends at the Kindi Farm, find the mischievous baby chicks, and explore the kitchen garden – an Easter bunny’s paradise.

When you’ve finished your trail, you can claim your chocolate treat.

Why not make a day of it and spread out on the lawn to enjoy a home-packed picnic, or dine in at the Vaucluse House Tearooms (we highly recommend reserving a table, as the Tearooms are a popular destination on Easter Sunday). Please also be aware that takeaway coffee from the Tearooms may take longer than usual.

For ages 3+.

This event is also taking place at Elizabeth Farm.

Important notes:

  • There will not be a chocolate egg hunt at this event. However, every participating child will receive a chocolate treat.

  • Tickets are required for both children and adults.

  • The “egg-cellent” family activities are recommended for children aged 3 and over. Younger children are welcome to participate, but will require assistance from an accompanying adult.

  • Please arrive at your booked session time (which can be found on your ticket, emailed at the time of booking) then enjoy the activities at your leisure.

  • On arrival every child will be provided with an activity sheet. Once all five activities are completed, every child will receive a chocolate reward.

  • Your ticket includes entry to the historic house. We encourage you to view the house and find the hidden cheeky chicks. The house is open until 4pm.

  • This program primarily takes place outdoors so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes and a hat. If there is a chance of rain, please bring wet weather gear.

  • In the unlikely event of cancellation due to heavy rain or extreme weather, Sydney Living Museums will notify you via the email address you provided at the time of booking.
