Discover the outbuildings that still survive on the Vaucluse House estate, and learn about those that have gone such as the workers’ cottages and convict barracks.

Gain a deeper understanding of Vaucluse House and the people who occupied it on this walking tour. You’ll visit the once hardworking laundry, busy stables and bountiful kitchen garden and journey along the original driveway through the beach paddock on your way to the Wentworth mausoleum.

You’ll be guided to the lesser-known sites of the workers’ cottages and convict barracks that no longer stand but add to the rich historical fabric of the Vaucluse House estate.

Visit the mausoleum where William Charles Wentworth and three of his children are buried and hear about Wentworth’s extravagant funeral – and the accompanying procession that brought Sydney to a standstill.

Booking essential. Ages 16+

We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and a hat, and bring a bottle of water.
