Celebrate NAIDOC Week at Rouse Hill House & Farm with Darug Elders and the local community, at this event held in partnership with Muru Mittigar Aboriginal Cultural and Education Centre.

"We are Darug, born of this land, born of the spirit, we have walked this land since the Dreaming." - Aunty Edna Watson, Darug Elder.

Join our family-friendly celebration of NAIDOC Week and Aboriginal culture, on Darug country.

Start of the day with a Welcome to Country by Leanne Watson and Rhiannon Wright and a Smoking Ceremony by Nulungu Dreaming. Then help raise the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian flags to open the event.

Take part in a range of family-friendly activities throughout the day:

  • Listen to performances by award-winning poet, singer and dancer Gumaroy Newman.
  • Try your hand at the ancient art of boomerang throwing and paint one to take home.
  • Learn traditional weaving techniques from Nulungu Dreaming.
  • Participate in one of our popular Darug language workshops held in the unique setting of the 1888 Rouse Hill school house.
  • Meet native animals with Get Wild.
  • Step inside the historic homestead on one of our house tours.

Enjoy a barbecue cook-up by Mad Mob, tea and coffee from Darcy St Project and traditional Aboriginal foods at Muru Mittigar cafe.

We acknowledge the First Nations Peoples, the Darug peoples, the traditional custodians of the land, and pay respect to the Elders, past and present.
