Nightlight tour: Mourning and the Mausoleum
This Event Is
Learn about Victorian mourning rituals and objects as you tour the grand formal rooms of Vaucluse House, then walk to the rarely opened Wentworth Mausoleum for this exclusive evening access.
Hear stories of William Charles Wentworth’s extravagant 1873 state funeral – the first ever held in NSW – and listen to commentary from the colonial newspapers about the details of this great event.
At the end of the tour, come back to our colonial kitchen and try your very own ‘funeral cake’ with a glass of wine by the fire.
We recommend that you wear comfortable walking shoes.
