Seidler Screenings: Modernist Film Nights
Rose Seidler House is one of the country’s finest examples of mid-20th-century domestic architecture.
As dusk falls, the house will come alive, serving as the dramatic backdrop for the night’s heady mix of modernist film and architecture, curator-led house tours, light projections, music and performance, talks and rich storytelling.
The event will bring together an immersive program of modernist film classics spanning architecture, popular film, music and culture, designed so that audiences can experience Sydney’s modernist past as if they had lived it themselves. The activities will culminate with visitors gathering for the ‘screen on the green’, providing a unique setting for audiences to immerse themselves in the modernist experience.
The evening also provides a rare opportunity for visitors to sidle up to an original Seidler building. As they explore the house and garden and hear rich stories of the site, they will discover first hand what made architect Harry Seidler’s first Australian commission ‘the most talked-about house in Sydney’ when it was completed in 1950.
