Sweetness and Light: an evening of sugar and rum punch
Part of Australian Heritage Festival 2019
In the early decades of the colony, contacts with India were a key to the developing economy.
Sugar, spices, textiles and Bengal rum were all vital imports – with rum even becoming a de facto currency.
Join us by candlelight as we investigate Elizabeth Farm’s early contacts with India.
Then pound sugar in the kitchen, rasp lemons, and make and taste a Regency rum punch.
