Urban Explorers: New Public Art

Architecture & Design Series

with Curator Barbara Flynn

Public art is our shared history, memories, and a reflection on our changing culture. In this walking tour of some of Sydney’s new public art projects, you’ll hear from the curator Barbara Flynn as she talks about several recent art commissions she has worked on.

Barbara Flynn has guided these projects since 2013. Selected artists include Olafur Eliasson (Berlin), Tracey Emin (London) and Jonathan Jones (Sydney) and Jenny Holzer (New York). Find out how artists are identified and selected, artworks commissioned and made, and the fascinating challenges that come up along the way.

The tour is outdoors and includes steps and uneven surfaces. A reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required. The event will proceed in wet weather, except in extreme conditions. Please dress appropriately.
