Waverley Cemetery

Part of the Urban Explorers series

Our September Urban Explorers tour is inspired by this year’s NSW History Week theme of Memory and Landscapes and takes place in the special surroundings of Waverley Cemetery.

Join historian and author Dr Lisa Murray, alongside Greg Ross of the Friends of Waverly Cemetery for a fascinating walking tour of this special place.

From its 1877 beginnings, the cemetery has been one of the most admired in Sydney. Its prime coastal position and sublime aspect has made it a popular choice for burials of the rich and famous. Find out how this important place has grown into its location to become what we see today.

We recommend that you wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen, and bring a bottle of water. Event will proceed in wet weather - please dress accordingly.
