The Artist & the Botanical Collector

The lost works of Lovegrove & Bäuerlen

Featuring a collection of original wildflower paintings from the 1890s, this exhibition highlighted the partnership of amateur artist Gertrude Lovegrove and botanical collector William Bäuerlen.

The show revealed their ambitious and ultimately unsuccessful endeavour to produce a multi-part publication called The wild flowers of New South Wales.

Presented as part of the 200th birthday celebrations of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.
