From Our Place

Cultural survival and renewal is everybody’s business.

Celebrate the unique stories of the first peoples of NSW, through artworks and cultural objects drawn from the collections of NSW Aboriginal cultural centres.

Despite the long-lasting effects of cultural disruption, Aboriginal culture continues to survive and be renewed in NSW. Identity and connection to country are strong. Exhibitions such as this are representative of how cultural centres develop awareness and appreciation in the broader community, in turn creating a healthier society and environment.

This exhibition promotes strength, self-esteem and pride among Aboriginal communities by acknowledging and exploring identity, heritage and culture. It includes wall-hangings, paintings, ceramics, tools and cultural artefacts, woven and carved sculptures, and sound and video recordings.
