Greg Hansell: Life in the Hawkesbury

Artist Greg Hansell’s third exhibition with the HHT Members, Life in the Hawkesbury, will highlight his perceptions of the Hawkesbury, where he has lived for more than 30 years. For this exhibition, Greg has created mainly small works, painted on location, using a combination of handmade earth pastels and Schmincke pastels. Greg lives on the historic Peninsula area of Windsor, and many of the sites he has painted are within walking distance from his studio overlooking the Hawkesbury River. The rest of the works depict locations in the surrounding areas of Richmond and Ebenezer. Throughout 2011 and up to the present time Greg has been artist in-residence at the Australiana Pioneer Village in Wilberforce. His paintings are very close views of historic architecture, showing the shadows and textures of different surfaces.
