The Modern Bathroom
Now on display
Early 20th century baths, basins and toilets were traditionally finished in ‘hygienic’ white, but the new ‘moderne’ style of the 1930s featured colour enamelling of bathroom fixtures and fittings.
By the 1950s, industrial innovation had met post war optimism, and the explosion of colour co-ordinated bathroom tiles, suites and accessories on offer reflected a bright and prosperous new consumer age.
