Sydney suburb

Sydney Suburb took a long journey north, south, east and west. Not with the deliberation of a compass or street directory, but in a meandering sort of way, along the pathways and lifeways of Sydney’s nature, its people and places.

The stories of Sydney suburbs formed a common thread in this eclectic mix of paintings, prints, drawings and photographs from Herbert Badham, Lloyd Rees, Donald Friend, Margaret Preston, HJ Wedge, Marion Mahony and Ken Searle.

The exhibition explored the variegated landscape of the suburban lives of the artists, architects and writers who lived in these places.
