Support the Hyde Park Barracks learning precinct
Individual donations are crucial to the future growth of Sydney Living Museums. We’ve been inspired by the generosity of our donors and supporters during the Annual Appeal 2020. As a result of your donations, we can continue our core business of conserving, maintaining, researching and activating our 12 museums and historic houses, for current and future generations. However, there’s more that we’d like to do!
Our history, heritage and stories matter
Earlier this year, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Hyde Park Barracks reopened after a visionary transformation into a cutting-edge museum. The final phase of this renewal is the creation of a dedicated learning precinct consisting of two learning rooms and outside space on the eastern side of the Barracks.
The precinct will provide engaging and meaningful educational experiences for more than 30,000 people every year, of all ages and abilities. These experiences will help visitors to develop a greater appreciation for our history, stories and heritage, in ways that add value to their lives.
The Hyde Park Barracks learning precinct will be a place for experimentation and creativity, promoting critical thinking and conversations about a diverse range of historical and contemporary issues and themes in an authentic context. The accessible, versatile and multifunctional spaces will help to remove barriers to participation for school students and the wider public, with new technologies that enable greater reach. Your donation to the learning precinct will support:
- Equal opportunity – providing immersive and memorable excursions for students from socio-economically disadvantaged primary schools;
- Accessibility – customised furniture and structural modifications will ensure a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone;
- Technology – digital resources for the classroom and the production of interactive virtual excursions connecting students with museum educators.
No matter how large or small, your gift will enrich the lives of those who visit the Hyde Park Barracks learning precinct.
