Gold Key Tours

Let us take you on a Gold Key Tour of the extraordinary Rouse Hill House & Farm, the grand Vaucluse House Estate, or the fascinating working-class neighbourhood of The Rocks and Susannah Place Museum.

These 2 hour VIP experiences are led by expert guides and include access to spaces not usually open to the public, the opportunity to get up close to our fascinating collections, light refreshments and more.

Rouse Hill House & Farm Gold Key Tour

Delve into the layered histories of this intriguing house and farm. Join our expert guide on a tour inside the historic house, where the ever-present barriers will be removed and you will be invited to explore the treasure-filled rooms, lived in by six generations of the same family.

You will also visit the upper floor of the house, not open to the general public, where you can get up close to some of the home’s precious collection and hear fascinating stories of the family that lived here.

Afterwards explore more of this grand estate, including the old farm buildings and magnificent stables, and then enjoy light refreshments in the summerhouse (weather permitting).

If there are children in your group, please let us know so we can include the Rouse Hill House & Farm in LEGO® Bricks as part of your experience.

Please also advise your accessibility needs. Whilst the top floor of the house has limited access because there are stairs, there are other areas of the Estate which you can enjoy.

Susannah Place Museum Gold Key Tour

Discover the life, stories and history of Sydney’s earliest neighbourhoods – The Rocks and Millers Point. On this exclusive guided tour you will explore the lives and real stories of the occupants of Susannah Place. Sit in their kitchens and parlours by candle light as we delve into the many layers of history in this 1844 row of houses.

This bespoke tour also offers an exclusive opportunity to experience the Parbury Ruins archaeological site, unexpectedly discovered during a modern development and not open to the general public. As you descend below street level the extensive remains of an 1820s ex-convict’s cottage is revealed.

Your tour includes the opportunity to handle objects from the museum collection as well as light refreshments.

Please note the museum is a group of old terrace houses with narrow spaces and steep, narrow stairs. It is not accessible for wheelchairs.

Vaucluse House Gold Key Tour

Once home to William Charles Wentworth and his family, Vaucluse House holds the history of European Australia within its walls.

Join our expert guide as we drop the museum ropes and welcome you into Wentworth’s domain; full of objects provenanced to the Wentworth family, Vaucluse House is one of Australia's finest examples of an early colonial home. Immerse yourself in the details of Wentworth, his achievements, his family and his house on this personal tour and take a sneak peek at some of the seldom seen treasures from the collection.

Then join us on the short walk offsite to the rarely opened Wentworth Mausoleum, where you'll be invited inside to see Wentworth’s final resting place.

Please let us know your accessibility needs. While the top floor of the house has limited access because there are stairs, there are other areas of the Estate which you can enjoy.
