CWA, Sydney City

Country Women’s Association was established in 1922 to support women with friendship, for those experiencing isolation in the bush and is now the largest women’s network in Australia. Branches soon sprang up across the metropolitan areas, including Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

The Sydney City Branch is the largest in NSW. The CWA reputation is well known across Australia for producing homemade jams, preserves, baked goods, handicrafts and passing on these traditional skills to new generations.

Besides a reputation of tea and scones we are still a force that advocates to address and directly support women’s healthcare, education for children and families escaping domestic violence. These issues are still fundamental to our course; both in the city and the bush.
