Take the taste of sunshine, country air, warm days and cool nights – add careful grove management and a dash of Australian ingenuity – and you have ALTO Olives, producers of a portfolio of exceptional quality award-winning Australian Extra Virgin Olive Oils and complementary agridulce-style Vinegars.
The ALTO grove is located high in Australia’s Great Dividing Range near Crookwell, New South Wales, a site specifically chosen for its significant elevation, a critical factor that guarantees the consistent quality and intense flavours of ALTO Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Proprietor Robert Armstrong has planted 20,000 trees in this pristine location.
ALTO Extra Virgin Oils are blended predominantly from Tuscan-origin varieties to create a range of styles. The ALTO portfolio features ALTO Robust, a first cold decanter pressed fresh, fruity, multi-purpose oil characterised by lifted green apple and herb aromas and an intense spicy and balanced palate, Its companion oils include ALTO Delicate with subtle grassy aromas and mild pungency, and the Champion ALTO Vividus from the rare colonial Australian variety, Hardy’s Mammoth. Two citrus enhanced, tangy oils ALTO Lemon and ALTO Mandarin complete the collection.
To complement these Extra Virgin oils ALTO Olives has created two wine-based Agridulce-style finishing vinegars – ALTO Chardonnay Vinegar and ALTO Merlot Vinegar – made from Australian grown chardonnay and merlot grapes.
This artisan collection showcases exceptional quality natural Australian olive products marketed under the award-winning ALTO Olives label that is destined to distinguish the portfolio in global markets.
All ALTO Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Vinegars are available in both retail and food service formats.
Arlingtons opened in February 1990 as a gourmet food store in Seaforth, Sydney. As a local green grocer, Peter Arlington had a passion for delivering fresh, quality local produce and fine food to his customers. His passion extended beyond the grocery store as Peter started making his own range of Arlingtons creations, to satisfy the growing need for the community to be able to buy high quality, handmade foods which are made locally.
Arlingtons products have since gained popularity and started winning over tastebuds all over Sydney, Melbourne and more. In 2010 the Arlingtons Dip and Pesto range won a clean sweep of gold and silver medals at the Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards. This fantastic result is a testament to Arlingtons fresh, unique flavours appealing to Australia's modern palate. Today, Peter and the Arlingtons family still share their passion and appetite for fresh, great tasting, handmade gourmet food with many devoted food lovers.
Barbara Sweeney’s Talking Cookbook
Barbara writes about food for the Sydney Morning Herald and is regional editor of The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide. She is also a columnist and feature writer for Country Style magazine, writing about encounters with curious piglets, beekeepers and pineapple growers.
In a lifetime of working in hospitality, Barbara has owned a small country café, worked in a 100-year-old Italian palazzo hotel and presented food segments for radio and television. She has reveled in all the experiences that have come her way: sipping on vintage wines, meeting top chefs, stamping through fields with farmers and, most of all, sitting at the table.
In 2012 Barbara staged the inaugural Food and Words food writers’ festival in Sydney, an event where food writers talk about books that matter and writers contemplate food.
Barbara cannot imagine a life without cooking and eating – or talking about either.

At Cornersmith we work only with seasonal produce, produce small batches and support small-scale local producers, so our bottled products are different from month to month. We are also influenced by what grows in the Marrickville area – locals bring their excess backyard produce to exchange with us as part of our community produce trading system. We’ll have lots of taste testers available so market attendees can sample our wares. We’ll also be promoting the workshops we run at the Picklery to teach participants about traditional food crafts such as pickling, jam making, cheese making, bread making and more.

Our name originates from the beauty and uniqueness of the Ginkgo Biloba tree and its delicate, uniquely shaped leaves. The Ginkgo tree is deemed a 'living fossil', with ancient fossils clearly related to modern Ginkgo tree. We are impressed by this ‘living fossil’s’ hardiness, its elegant form and adaptability as ornamental trees in contemporary urban environments. Its wonderful form and many functions make it an integral part of daily life in urban areas.
We hope our name signifies some of the most distinctive characteristics of the Ginkgo in our endeavour to gather objects for those who appreciate good design and beauty in their daily lives, both to look at and to use.
At Ginkgo Leaf, our selection of inventory is guided by the Japanese conceptual term Yo-no-bi ('beauty through use'). Alongside Yo-no-bi, well designed equipment must have high functionality for multiple uses. A plate comes alive when food is placed within its boundaries. Tools and equipment used daily should be minimal, practical and beautiful.
Our primary focus is well crafted, well designed contemporary Japanese household items such as ceramics, porcelain, glassware, wood crafts, ironware, bath and bed textiles or unique pieces with which to bring delight to their users.
Ginkgo Leaf’s inventory is selected by founder and owner Yew Kong Tham.

Miss Lilly’s Pies
Miss Lilly didn’t much hold with fancy cookery. She stuck to making ‘proper’ food with fierce pride, a bit of cheek, and a fair amount of sherry. She measured by feel and mixed by hand, and passed on her recipes to a select few. The founder of Miss Lilly’s Kitchen, her grandson, was one of them.
So today at Miss Lilly’s Kitchen we make her pies and rolls with the same no-nonsense approach. The rich savoury fillings are made with real meat and our pastry doesn’t skimp on the shortening. Our sweet treats follow the seasons and are sweet enough without the addition of any modern-day nasties. We’ve made sure to use products that are free-range and pasture-fed and where possible locally produced, just as it was back in the day. We believe in knowing who our suppliers and producers are so that we can trace our products back to the farm where they came from.
We’ve made a few modern exceptions with our products: we use spelt flour in all of our pastry so it’s a bit easier on those with gluten sensitivities, and all our pies are available gluten-free. Now that would have had Miss Lilly scratching her head, but we believe that change can be good and that we would have earned her stamp of approval.
The Olsson Family has been making solar sea salt in Australia since 1964. Solar salt is produced by the action of sun and wind on seawater in large ponds. Olsson’s solar salt works are located in Queensland near the Great Barrier Reef and in South Australia near the Great Australia Bight. Because Olsson’s sea salt has as its only ingredient seawater from two of the world’s most pristine oceans, the result is one of the most beautiful sea salts available on the market today. There are no chemical processes involved in the manufacture of our product, which is why we can guarantee that it is perfectly natural and pure.

Pepe Saya’s Australian Cultured Butter is made using the best local ingredients – milk from happy cows, filtered water and a dash of local Aussie salt – because Pepe believes in making good food that is good for you. The ‘culture’ in our butter is the good bacteria (Lactobacillus), which is added to the cream, fermented for 24 hours and left to ripen over three weeks.
The culture eats the sugar (lactose) in the cream and turns it into lactic acid, which sours the cream, adding flavor to the butter and infusing it with probiotics so it’s better for you too

At Tippity, we are passionate about tea. But we believe there’s more to the perfect cup than just taste. For us, the simple cup of tea is the result of a never-ending journey of discovery. It’s about the pursuit of a virtuous life. This lies in 4 key rituals (a little simpler than Benjamin Franklin’s 13): they are simply stated as caring for others as well as ourselves, being generous in our actions, having integrity in the decisions we make and finally practicing Kaizen – or continuous improvement in all that we do.
These rituals live at the heart of every product we make.
