Homes in the sky: apartment living in Sydney

Today more flats than houses are being built in Sydney with the city experiencing an unprecedented apartment boom.

Architecturally and culturally, apartments challenged Australia’s suburban lifestyle and the ’Australian dream’ of house ownership. Focusing on a range of apartments - from public to luxury housing - Homes in the sky traces the controversial place of apartment developments in Australia’s identity and urban culture. Featuring photography by Max Dupain, Eric Sierins and artists including Arthur Streeton, the exhibition will highlight many of Sydney’s best-known and most sought-after apartment buildings with work by Harry Seidler, Aaron Bolot, Emil Sodersten, and contemporary developers such as Mirvac and Meriton.
