Spring Cleaning at Vaucluse House

 

This month at Vaucluse House we are counting down to the centenary of our opening as a museum, which we will be celebrating on Sunday 11 October with an action packed community open day.

Last week, preparations for this exciting event took the form of an unusual spot of spring cleaning, as our horticultural team drained the fountain on our front lawn (first by pulling the plug, then with the aid of a pump), to scrub away a build up of sediment. An unusual sight for a short while, with shallow water and various water plants marooned around the edges, our fountain is now back up and running, looking - and sounding - wonderfully cool and clear just in time for the welcome warm weather.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for further developments as our preparations for Sunday 11 October progress.

In the meantime, why not visit Vaucluse House to see our sparkling fountain for yourself? Vaucluse House will be open 11am-4pm every day from Friday 18 September until Monday 5 October.
