Tempests and Torrents at Vaucluse House

Staff picking their way to Vaucluse House this morning between bouts of heavy rain were met with a novel sight.

The creek which wends its way from the back of the South Paddock, through the Estate and into the Harbour, usually a deep stone-lined channel for a gentle stream, today absolutely full and roaring with torrents of icy cold rain water.

With the rain carrying on this morning, and forecast to continue for the rest of this week, there’s no better time to appreciate the waterways of the Vaucluse House Estate, from our waterfall to the Harbour, and everything in between. Wear your gumboots – you’ll need them!
