Barracks' Girls and Famine Immigrants Symposium

Learn about Australia’s connection with the Great Famine in Ireland (1845-1850) with Sydney Living Museums’ head of collections & access, Megan Martin, curator Dr Fiona Starr and historians Dr Perry McIntyre and Dr Richard Reid.

The symposium will start at 1pm however Drs Richard Reid and Perry McIntyre are available to meet participants at the Great Irish Famine Memorial at Hyde Park Barracks from 12pm to give them an introduction to the monument.

Ticket price also includes a visit to The Female Immigration Depot 1848-1886  exhibition at Hyde Park Barracks Museum.
