A selection of artworks by Melbourne-based artist Bern Emmerichs will be on display at the Caroline Simpson Library & Research Collection until Friday 10 August.

To celebrate, Sydney Living Museums members are invited to a special evening to hear from the artist and view these exceptional and meticulously painted ceramics.

Bern Emmerichs’ practice focuses on the narratives of Australia’s colonial history: the European discovery and exploration of Australia, first contact and the early colonies.

The artist has exhibited nationally and internationally and is represented in collections across Australia. Her work will be included in the National Portrait Gallery’s winter exhibition So Fine: Contemporary women artists make Australian history, opening 29 June 2018.

Bern Emmerichs has illustrated four award-winning Australian history books for children, including The startling story of Lachlan Macquarie: founding father or failure?

This event is held in collaboration with Maunsell Wickes Gallery, who is Bern Emmerichs' Sydney representative.

Drinks and canapes will be served.

Spaces are limited and booking is essential.
