Food hacks for the Christmas table

Barbara shares her Christmas Fare food hacks for a good-looking and tasty festive table.

For one evening only, Sydney Living Museums will be hosting Christmas Fare at the Hyde Park Barracks Museum.

Step through the gates of the Hyde Park Barracks Museum for an evening of festive shopping and entertainment with a star-studded line-up of 40+ stalls featuring Sydney’s finest artisan producers, makers and ready-to-eat gourmet food vendors.

Established in 2013, Christmas Fare has become a much-loved fixture of Sydney’s cultural calendar. Held in the sensational grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site in the centre of Sydney, you are invited to delight in the festive atmosphere with scrumptious food, a pop-up boutique bar, home-grown live entertainment by Low Down Riders, Merchants of Sound and Stephanie Grace, and complimentary Museum entry.

This year we’ve teamed up with our friends at the Australian Design Centre to present ‘Makers Lane’, featuring a carefully curated selection of food-related gifts by artisans and craftspeople providing everything you need to style your perfect Christmas table.

Need more reasons to visit? SLM’s own Colonial Gastronomer, Jacqui Newling, will be on hand with delectable samples of Christmas classics derived from our recipe collection.

Christmas Fare falls under Sydney Living Museums Food, a popular series of seasonal food-based programs delivered across our 12 sites including Spring Harvest Festival at Elizabeth Farm, Autumn Harvest Festival at Rouse Hill House & Farm and the Colonial Gastronomy series.
