Family Fair

A message to Family Fair attendees:

Thank you for attending Family Fair yesterday. We had unprecedented interest in the event this year, with more than 4000 people in attendance, including 2500 visitors who purchased tickets on the day at the event.

With such a large number of sales on the day, our carpark, food offer and programmed activities were put under significant pressure. We deeply apologise for the inconvenience this caused to our visitors.

We will be working on ways to ensure a quality audience experience for next year’s event and will be reviewing our program to ensure that more visitors can enjoy what is on offer.

We invite you to share your experience and suggestions for ways to develop this event via our event survey.

Once again, we would like to thank everyone for supporting Sydney Living Museums, and for the interest you have shown in our historic properties.

We look forward to announcing a new and improved program for 2019.

Playfulness and merriment abounds as Family Fair returns for another year.

Bring the family along to Rouse Hill House & Farm for a day of fun and nostalgia.

Try your hand at a range of old fashioned activities and games including kite flying, jumping sacks and vintage lawn sports.

Experience farm life with our farmer, who will teach you how to feed the cows, ride a Shetland pony, and get up close and personal with the baby animals at the Petting Farm.

Take a sneak peek inside Rouse Hill House and experience the 1880s schoolhouse with school mistress Mrs Fox.

For some quiet time, sit back and relax with story book readings under the fig tree or get crafty at our tinkering station with printed materials derived from our collection.

Download the event map and schedule for the day.

What to wear

We recommend wearing enclosed shoes and clothing suitable for walking around a farm property, and bring wet weather gear if appropriate. A hat and sunscreen are recommended, as significant parts of the program are conducted outdoors.

Visitors with low mobility can take a ride in the people mover from the carpark to the top of the site; and there is wheel chair access to the house. Please note, that the dirt paths surrounding the house are fairly uneven.

Please note that no pets with the exception of special service dogs (i.e. guide dogs) are allowed on site at Rouse Hill House & Farm.

Our museums and places are on Aboriginal land. We acknowledge the First Nations Peoples, the traditional custodians, and we pay respect to the Elders, past and present. Rouse Hill House & Farm is on Darug country.
